Shopping Centre Security Officer

We are seeking a professional, reliable and approachable Security Officer to join our team! This role's purpose is to provide a safe and secure environment for shoppers, staff, tenants and visitors by protecting people, property and assets while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a professional and customer-focused presence at all times.

Essential Criteria:

• Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
• Good level of spoken and written English.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong observational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Professional appearance and conduct.
• Good report-writing skills.
• Customer service focused.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic IT skills for report writing and security systems.

Desirable but not Essential Criteria:

• First Aid at Work qualification.
• CCTV Operator Licence.
• Previous shopping centre, retail, or corporate security experience.
• Conflict management training.
• Fire Marshal training.

Role Responsibilities:

• Patrol the shopping centre, including internal and external areas.
• Monitor CCTV systems and security alarms.
• Control access to restricted areas.
• Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, and security breaches.
• Assist with fire alarms, evacuations, and emergency procedures.
• Prevent theft, vandalism, and anti-social behaviour.
• Complete accurate incident and occurrence reports.
• Provide customer assistance, including giving directions and supporting vulnerable individuals.
• Liaise with police, emergency services, and centre management when required.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.
• Conduct opening and closing security checks.
• Monitor contractor and delivery access where applicable.

• Maintain a visible security presence.
• Respond to incidents within required timescales.
• Complete accurate documentation.
• Deliver high standards of customer service.
• Comply with company policies and legal requirements at all times.

Working Conditions:

• 12-hour shifts may be required.
• Indoor and outdoor patrols in all weather conditions.
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Uniform and PPE provided.
