Stambridge Group and the Workforce Adult Skills department at South Essex Colleges Group have developed a strong partnership, working together to provide students with the qualifications and practical experience needed to enter the security industry.
This collaboration continues to grow, supporting individuals in securing employment opportunities.
The government-funded program is designed for unemployed candidates over the age of 19, offering them a five-week classroom-based training course.
The program integrates the Workforce Adult Skills iPrep course (Skills for Work) with the essential training, qualifications, and hands-on experience required for a career in private security.
This course presents an excellent opportunity to enhance participants' CVs and significantly improve their employment prospects. Those who successfully complete all elements of the programme can apply for an SIA Door Supervisor Licence and an SIA CCTV Licence, both of which will be funded by the college.
Students spend the first four weeks learning at the college, followed by a final week of practical CCTV training with security specialists Stambridge Group.
Nicky O'Brien from Workforce Adult Skills shared her thoughts on the partnership:
"It is great working with Stambridge Group to roll out this project. The students benefit hugely from the opportunity to train and work in a professional environment, rather than just in a classroom. Stambridge Group are industry leaders— not only do they provide exceptional training, but they also employ many of the candidates after completion."
Patrick Bourke, Director of Stambridge Group, added:
"It's fantastic to work so closely with Workforce Adult Skills at South Essex Colleges Group. We have trained and supported over 400 students into employment through this programme. Many graduates go on to work with us at Stambridge Group, securing roles at festivals, events, and long-term contracts. Nicky actually assisted Jamie Spiers, my co-director, and me in obtaining our very first SIA licence many years ago!"
The course is FREE for those who:
• Were over 19 years old on 31/08/2024, are unemployed, reside in England, and receive Universal Credit or similar benefits.
• Were over 19 years old on 31/08/2024 and earn under £25,000 per year (evidence of income is required).
